Caraway extract promotes weight loss
In one study, researchers examined the influence of caraway seeds on weight. Caraway seed extract was found to reduce hunger pangs and carbohydrate intake in overweight and physically active women. The study included 70 overweight or obese women (BMI> 25) aged 20 to 55 years.
In the study, one group of women received 30 milliliters of aqueous caraway extract (10 percent) and another received a placebo daily for three months. They maintained the same lifestyle and eating habits during this period. The calorie intake was adjusted by means of a special questionnaire that determines the subjective feeling of hunger using a scale.
At the end of the study, the hunger-reducing effect of caraway extract was verified by running another test. One group of participants received caraway extract and another a placebo 20 minutes before the meal. At the end of the study, the feeling of hunger and the average carbohydrate intake of the extract group were significantly reduced compared to the placebo group.
Average daily calorie intake was also lower compared to the placebo group, hip circumference, waist / hip ratio, thigh circumference, and arm circumference were significantly decreased with caraway compared to placebo.

Caraway seeds as a substitute in meals
Caraway and cumin belong to the parsley family and have a similar flavor. You can substitute ground caraway seeds in recipes that call for ground cumin, although the flavor will not be as strong or spicy. Caraway seeds are also an acceptable substitute for coriander seeds in recipes.
Tips: When making a spice substitution, start by using half the recommended amount and test as you go. You will probably be able to add the full amount, especially if you are substituting with a spice that has languished in the spice cabinet for a while and lost some potency. However, you may need to make adjustments to the recipe you are following.
"Your skin has a natural barrier to retain moisture, and essential to that is omega-3 fatty acid," Joanna advises. "Flax seeds on your salad or even walnuts will be an instant boost to your omega-3, thus increasing your skin's ability to hold onto moisture." And be sure to eat a diet low in foods with a high glycemic index (simple and complex carbohydrates).
